Marin County Seeded and Exposed Aggregates Contractor
Seeded and exposed aggregates is the process of “seeding” a newly laid concrete surface with decorative pebbles or stones. Seeded and exposed aggregates adds interest to your concrete driveway, sidewalk, walkway, pool, floor or patio and can increase the value of your home or business.
A wide range of aggregates are available, provide matching or contrasting colors to the concrete. Properly placed exposed aggregate concrete, in bands or fields, contrasts beautifully with colored, scored, stamped, or textured concrete finishes.
Timing is critical in creating seeded and exposed aggregates, both in how soon the concrete can be “seeded,” and in the timing of exposing the aggregates after they have been set into the concrete. If the concrete is seeded too quickly, the decorative aggregates won’t remain at the surface.
When the concrete has become hard enough to carry a concrete layer’s weight without displacing the seeded aggregates, the concrete surface needs to be washed with a hose and scrub brush to remove the top layer of cement paste. Care must be taken not to displace the aggregate during the cleaning process.
