We’re very pleased with the patio remodeling job that Van Midde & Son Concrete did for us this spring. Scott Foster, project manager, was very helpful in working with us to design a new patio that is both functional and beautiful.
The original patio was broken in several places and presented trip hazards; the drainage was completely inadequate to deal with even normal rainfall. Scott and the entire construction crew at did a great job of designing the project with us and then carrying out each step on time and on budget. Scott and each worker patiently answered our questions and pointed things out to improve our understanding. Also, they were flexible enough to easily accommodate a couple of design changes and upgrades. Throughout the project, there was very good communication in person, by phone and email.
This was a complex project because the patio and the pool were in bad shape when we bought the house; we decided to rebuild both at the same time; Van Midde & Son coordinated the work very well with our pool remodeling contractor, Herb’s Pool Service. The demolition went smoothly, quickly and safely. Each step of the construction process was done thoroughly. We wound up with a full-bodied drainage system, a beautiful patio with fine textures and colors, and a beautiful retaining wall that neatly defines our garden and pool.
We highly recommend Van Midde & Son Concrete to homeowners and businesses who are even thinking about creating or improving something with concrete.

“Trout Unlimited sincerely appreciates your participation in organizing and arranging for contributions of materials and necessary tools to complete the fish passage at Roy’s Dam on San Geronimo Creek. As you are probably aware the late January and February rain storms brought in good numbers of coho salmon and steelhead and they were able to pass over the dam without the stress of previous years. The TU North Bay Chapter will be working with the Marin Municipal Water District this summer to correct erosion problems and address the sediment load in San Geronimo Creek. Hopefully we can eventually double the spawners within the next three years. I again want to personally thank you for your interest from the very beginning of the two-year project. Have you ever received a letter from a customer asking you to remove the concrete you just poured? Well once again this is not one of those letters. I wanted to thank you and your crew (Steve) for the work rendered. This patio has been something Cathy and myself have been visualizing and dreaming about for quite some time.. Although Lefty is going to miss the mud slinging obstacle course and he is convinced you buried one of his 200 bones. I’m sure he will adjust. Other that the sealer surprise we are pleased with the job and are anxious to show it off. Now if I could only figure out the first step from the house. Thanks again for your timeliness and a job well done. I will send photographs shortly.

When we decided that our driveway needed to be replaced, we got several bids and decided to hire Van Midde Concrete. We spent a great deal of time choosing the right color, and finally settled on tan/brown from McNear’s. We then left for the Sierras, expecting the job to be done while we were gone.
By the time the project was completed, the crew had cleaned up completely and even restored the garden surfaces around the driveway. The driveway looks marvelous.
